The term Arthritis doesn't refer to a specific disease, there are over one hundred different types of joint disease that are referred to as Arthritis. According to WebMD, the five most common forms of Arthritis are; Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout, and Lupus. Osteoarthritis is by far the most common form of Arthritis because it is caused by the wear and tear that is put on our bodies through work and aging. It is estimated that well over 50 million people in the United States suffers from some form of Arthritis. Although there are many different symptoms associated with the different types of Arthritis, in a large percentage of cases, the persons joints are inflamed, and there is also pain and stiffness.

As with most of the ailments that mankind suffers from, there are no cures, only treatments, Arthritis is no exception. I am not one to totally bash the pharmaceutical companies, every year millions of lives are saved, improved and extended because of pharmaceutical drugs. However, most people are familiar with the litany of side effects that can accompany the use of pharmaceuticals, particularly when it is for long term treatment. There is the oft asked question, 'Is the cure, worse than the disease'?

The Human Endocannabinoid System is a fairly recent medical discovery, scientists have discovered that we have Cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies and that the Endocannabinoid System plays a role in the management of many of the physiological functions of our bodies. Pain regulation and the inflammatory response are two of the physiological functions that the Endocannabinoid System regulates. CBD is a Cannabinoid that can be extracted from the Hemp plant and science is confirming now, with study after study, what was once merely anecdotal or testimonial evidence. CBD can help with the treatment of pain and inflammation, it can be ingested or turned into a topical solution and rubbed into the afflicted area to provide relief.
