Media Tip of the Day: Share Info and Write Your Own Bio First

If you want to be quoted or featured in the news, write articles or blogs demonstrating your expertise or write the story yourself first. This is how I got invited to talk about cryptocurrencies investing on ICO Investor TV and dividend investing on the Invest Like a Boss podcast.

Reporters want to know what you have to say and whether it's worthwhile to even call you. Otherwise, it's a crapshoot for them. Plus they're likely to pull quotes from your blog or article when doing a story because it's super convenient for them.

I get emails every day from PR people saying that their clients can talk about this, that and the other thing. I always ask to see if they've written anything to understand their position and see what I can ask them.

Otherwise, I never accept interview requests from PR people anymore for fear that their client will mentally masturbate into the phone. Unfortunately, I am a writer, not a wizard.

I can't conjure up a story out of a bunch of smoke that was blown up my ass.
